The Power of Questions

"It is an axiomatic fact that while you meditate you are speaking with your own spirit. In that state of mind you put certain questions to your spirit and the spirit answers: the light breaks forth and the reality is revealed."

(‘Abdu’l‑Bahá, Paris Talks, 54.)

Recently I attended an interfaith workshop where the speaker talked about new research on the power of questioning. She called it "Generative Questions." The science (and spirit) behind the concept is based on what ‘Abdu’l‑Bahá calls, "the axiomatic fact" but because the teacher was not yet acquainted with ‘Abdu’l‑Bahá's teaching, she referred to it as questioning the mind.

I have found the method simple, fun (because it peaks my curiosity) and effective.

Here's a few quick examples:

Instead of asking myself, "Why am I so tired?" the question is reframed:

How is it that I have so much energy?

Instead of internally being upset at someone to ask, "Why is it so easy to work with __?"

Instead of feeling bored, sad, depressed, etc., asking 'What is good about this moment?"

Using this method, combined with ‘Abdu’l‑Bahá's teaching to meditate and "put certain questions to your spirit" offers a powerful combination to unlocking the questions in your life!

Try it yourself:

Why do I always _____?

How am I so lucky to ____?

What is good about __?

How is it that I can__?

Much Love, on this day of Questions in the month of Power~!

PS: If you want to find out more there is a book by Noah St. John called the Secret Code of Success that goes into into the concept in more details. Easy read!
